Going with your gut ... health

National Nutrition Month is drawing to a close, but in our opinion-- every day is nutrition day. We believe you are indeed what you eat, and nowhere is that more apparent than in your gut.

This recent study may be focused on animals, but, "The implications are considerable. “We know that the gut microbiome has really important effects on human health,” said Rachel Carmody. the study's author. Indeed, this internal environment has been linked to “a range of human diseases,” she said, including metabolic diseases like atherosclerosis and Type 2 diabetes, cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and autoimmune disorders."

We love the fact that it gives us so much influence on our health, "as this means we can manipulate it more easily to improve human health,” Carmody said.
